went to a lecture in the waterfront hall by daniel libeskind which was to launch the University of Ulster’s Real Estate Initiative. I’ve seen Libeskind lecture before, but was looking forward to hearing him discuss his more recent projects, such as the above one : The Grand Canal Performing Arts Centre and Galleries in Dublin.

extension to denver art museum: an extension which uses each corner that the unusual shape creates.

fiera milano: 3 architects, 3 buildings…libeskind’s is the middle. these are placed where the city’s funfair once was.

memory foundations – the ground zero project, new york
Libeskind clearly puts such an amount of thought into his designs. the memory foundations one in particular : he discussed how the angles of the entrance plaza is shaped along the angles of light from the two times that the planes hit the towers on 11.09, and how nothing will stand where those towers were – instead he is placing waterfalls in a small park. it looks fantastic and will be an amazing way to remember that day.
check out his website for more images, including some of his own sketches…
