Ok, i know i’m meant to be too busy to do anything, but i had to do a post on this fantastic little hotel in Donegal. I heard about if from a friend and so looked up their website, which is fantastically well designed…

“O’Fabulous is an exquisitely furnished boutique hotel situated in the heritage town of Ardara, Co. Donegal, Ireland. Each stunning room is individually designed, furnished with silks, velvets, Irish linens and glamorous furniture. Exceptionally comfortable, beautifully designed and reasonably priced — Welcome to O’Fabulous.”

With Jo Malone toiletries, Fortnum and Mason tea and coffee, WIFI, flat screen tvs, rainfall showers…this place looks like heaven. not to mention the food…

“From Easter onwards morning coffee with home made Irish biscuits is served every day from 10.30 and our famous afternoon tea served on beautiful china with crisp linen and a first class selection of homemade, expertly baked cakes is served from 2pm. From warm apple buns, to fresh chocolate sponge to warm scones with homemade jam, tea by the fire at O’Fabulous is a popular and delicious treat.

Our delicious Irish breakfasts are a real treat. We insist on locally produced food, to get you the freshest laid eggs, our cook bakes her bread daily and we insist that the cultural heritage of the land is reflected in the food and strive to reduce the environmental damage caused through food miles.

Breakfast: Irish Porridge with Heather Honey, Irish Whiskey or Irish Cream, Basket of O’Fabulous Homemade breads and breakfast goodies, (e.g. honey and oatmeal muffins, warm buttermilk scones, or homemade wheaten bread) served with Irish butter and delicious local homemade jams, Irish Breakfast Tea or Coffee…

The O’Fabulous Supper Club currently opens its (rather lovely) doors every Friday and Saturday night for a twinkly, stylish evening of Classic and beautifully presented Irish Cuisine. Gordon Ramsay would approve of our small menus concentrating on excellent, fresh local ingredients. We serve the type of food we would adore to find in Ireland together with a first class wine list and immaculate attention to detail from the Vera Wang fine bone china to the Tiffany and Co. candles to fine Irish linen and sparkling Irish crystal. Welcome to our Supper Club.”

My parents were staying in a cottage close to Ardara last weekend, and they visited O’Fabulous to see what it was like. They brought me back a brochure and, to my delight, the people who own O’Fabulous also have Honey Cottage, which is also in western Ireland, and two apartments to rent: one in Seville and one in Montmartre, Paris. i think my summer break has been decided for me…but which one to choose ?
