i came across camilla engman a few months ago when i started reading the blogs of many of her fans, who all mentionned her – so i began reading her blog myself. Her artwork is beautiful, delicate and reminds me of childhood memories and dreams.
so im very excited for two reasons:
i purchased 4 prints from her shop:
and tomorrow i’ll be purchasing these:
her design for converse for the ‘red’ initiative:
“For Converse 1HUND(RED) Artists, Engman drew upon the fabled character of Little Red Riding Hood as her primary inspiration. Engman noted, “The artist’s role in contributing to a cause is to try to help us see the cause anew, to understand it, to feel it in a visceral way.” She chose the character for her pluck and bravery, her warmth and kindness, and her iconic familiarity. Indeed, the Little Red Riding Hood character appears in many of Camilla’s works as a recurring motif. “I wanted the design not to interfere too much with the shoe and to be something I would like to wear myself. The Little Red Riding Hood character has appeared in many of my paintings and drawings and probably will again. She has so many attributes that I like,” she added.”

avoca has been in belfast for several months now, but everytime i go in i still am overwhelmed by the sheer kitsch-ness of it all…
downstairs, the homeware, clothes, jewellery, books, cards and childrens’ toys takes so long to go through. i hate the thought i would miss something that could make my day… such as…
photo frame – 20 euro
glass bottles – 6 euro
chintz cami – 85 euro
i think i’ll leave a discussion of their food hall for another post…

dress from http://www.oohlalavintage.com, £75
lux pencil skirt, from urban outiftters, £30
necklace from urban outfitters, £14

made sure i took my camera so i could get some shots of the latest architectural addition to belfast…
it does look impressive, and i love some of the shapes. the wooden parts of the platforms are really lovely, and the natural light that floods the place ensures it doesnt appear to be just another shopping centre.

some goodies to look forward to…in 2 days !
<agent provocateur – the first two, the third an image from la perla’s current collection>
and with the new face of house of fraser being yasmin le bon < who’s rumoured to be opening the store on thursday…>, looks like we wont know what’s hit us !

having visited the all saints shop in dublin, my impression of their pieces is beautiful fabrics, simple colours and unusual, modern cuts… enjoy drooling over these little gems…
their pieces are pricey, but well worth the investment… they will be having a stand alone shop in victoria square as well as male and female concessions in house of fraser itself.

the pier’s products range from nice and simple pieces to some being slightly twee, but after hunting through, there are some pretty things…
definitely worth a look…
